This site collects or receives some information when you visit, subscribe, comment, click certain links, or send a message. Some of that information is handled by the services that keep the site running, measure traffic, deliver emails, manage cookies, and support affiliate tracking.
This page explains what that can include, why it is used, and what choices you have.
Information you choose to provide
- Contact forms: your name, email address, message, and anything else you choose to include.
- Newsletter subscriptions: your email address, subscription status, signup source, and any subscription preferences you choose where those controls are available.
- Comments: information you submit with a comment, which may include your name, email address, website, and comment text.
Please do not send passwords, account numbers, medical records, or other sensitive personal information through the site.
Information collected automatically
When you use the site, hosting, analytics, security, performance, email, and affiliate tools may automatically receive information such as your IP address, browser and device information, approximate location, referring page, pages viewed, interactions with the site, timestamps, and cookie or similar identifiers.
Cookies and analytics
The site uses WordPress.com and Jetpack services, and it currently uses Google Analytics through MonsterInsights to understand site traffic and how visitors use the site. Google Analytics can collect information such as session activity, approximate location, browser and device details, and identifiers used to distinguish users and sessions.
The site also uses WPConsent to manage cookie choices. Where the cookie banner or preference controls are available, you can use them to accept, reject, or adjust nonessential cookies. Your browser also gives you controls for deleting or blocking cookies.
You can read more about visitor data handled by Automattic/WordPress.com and Google.
Email and marketing communications
Newsletter subscriptions and marketing communications are handled through MailerLite. When you subscribe, you are asking to receive emails from logged in, still loading. Those emails may include new posts, recommendations, product updates, affiliate-supported content, and occasional promotions.
MailerLite may process your email address, subscription status, signup source, preferences, and technical, delivery, or engagement information needed to manage and measure email communications. If optional profile questions are offered later, information such as state, city, ZIP code, interests, or other preferences may also be collected when you choose to provide it so content can be made more relevant.
A newsletter subscription does not by itself give permission to send marketing text messages. If SMS or text messaging is offered in the future, phone numbers will be collected through a separate consent process that explains what messages are being requested.
You can unsubscribe using the link included in marketing emails and use any available preference controls provided with the subscription service. Subscriber information is not sold to advertisers.
You can read more about MailerLite’s handling of personal information in the MailerLite Privacy Policy.
Contact forms
Messages sent through the Contact page are processed through the site’s WordPress/Jetpack form tools. Those services may process the information you submit and technical information needed to deliver the message, prevent abuse, or keep the form working.
Affiliate links and other websites
Some articles contain affiliate links, including Amazon Associates links. Clicking an affiliate link can send information to the retailer or affiliate network so it can recognize the referral and, if you make a qualifying purchase, attribute a commission. Those companies handle information under their own privacy policies and may use cookies or similar technology.
The site also links to other websites and may occasionally embed third-party content. Once you leave this site or interact with an embedded service, that third party’s privacy practices apply.
For how affiliate relationships are handled here, see the Affiliate Disclosure.
